Jill Bible

I am a PhD student at UC Davis working with Dr. Eric Sanford. My broad interests are in human impacts on nearshore marine ecosystems, conservation, and restoration ecology. I am particularly interested in whether populations of marine invertebrates are locally adapted to their environments and whether local adaptation will make them more or less vulnerable to anthropogenic stressors. I am investigating whether different populations of the native Olympia oyster are locally adapted to their home estuaries with a focus on factors affected by climate change such as temperature, salinity, and carbonate chemistry. For the ocean acidification aspect of my research, I plan to test the responses of at least 6 populations of Olympia oysters to acidified conditions.
